You wouldn't believe what Caleb did two Fridays in a row and loved it??!! He did freewriting. Not too long ago, Caleb would have been in tears as soon as I said the two words. We did this last week with very little complaining (one displeasing grunt). I assigned it again this Friday and I got a happy response that he wanted to do it. I swear this is not my child and he has been abducted! It went well and his grammar was great, but spelling was poor. I praised him on his great effort and said he just needed to work on spelling. Tyler enjoyed it too, but I had to get onto him about his handwriting. He can write about anything during a freewriting, but I have to be able to read it.
The boys were enjoying their writing time so well that I took some pics to remember the enjoyment! They also enjoyed reading their writings to each other.

FYI for fellow homeschoolers, I've been reading The Writer's Jungle by Julie Bogart. I am not done reading this yet, but I recommended it! Wonderful insight for those teaching writing to their children. I can't wait to finish this book and implement more of her ideas into our school work. I decided to go late rather than early with writing, but I do feel we are getting behind with Caleb. We will be spending a lot of time on writing in the next year with him. Being older, he picks it up very quick and I don't regret waiting to teach him writing!
