Hands on fun!

I have always wanted to have lots of hands-on learning with my boys.  Yet, it rarely happens.  Well, we have blown that out of the water, so far this year.  I think we have done more fun stuff this year than what we did all of last year.  This week we learned about leaves in Botany and instead of looking in the book we went outside and identified the parts of a leave on every tree in our yard.  Tyler was a little bored by the last tree, but Caleb on the other hand actually remembered it later in the day!  We did a transpiration experiment with a house plant too.  In geography all the boys got in on playing with some tangrams since we learned this game came from China.

Boys found water in the bag.  We put the bag on a leaf and shut it up with a clothes pin.  It was a lot more than I expected!  And, yes, Tyler is wearing a tie-dye shirt and stripped pants!

Tyler's butterfly . . . . and below Dad lending a creative thought.
