Week in Review 12/2

I forgot to publish this on Friday!

We had a great week! It was nice to get back to school after Thanksgiving break. And we are counting down to Christmas break! Just two more weeks of school! Here is a break down on some of the stuff we did this week.

We started using Sentence Family for grammar. I combined the boys for this subject and we are doing grammar 3x a week. I am enjoying teaching the boys together and frees up some time. The boys love the stories and to my surprise, Caleb endures the drawing.

Math-U-See is going great for the boys. Tyler is in Beta and did a week of review this week and will be ready to start Lesson 14 on Monday. Caleb tested on lesson 12 and just missed one and he started lesson 13 which is finding the area of a trapezoid. He is ready to test.

We started a new read aloud this week. On Christmas Eve by Ann M Martin. It is about a girl who plans to meet the real Santa. I thought the boys would enjoy this story, even though the main characters are girls. So far, so good. I am just happy that we are reading aloud again. This some how got forgotten about in November!

Spelling went good this week and we added a new way of studying spelling list. The boys wrote their words with dry-erase markers on the glass door. Caleb is on list 18 in Spelling Plus and will test next week. We usually spend a week and a half to two weeks on a list. Spelling Plus is working for Caleb and he is acing his test and I can see his spelling improving in other areas. Tyler is cruising along in Wheeler's Spelling. He is ready to start lesson 18 on Monday.

Tyler will be making his First Reconciliation in two weeks. He is ready and we have been reviewing by doing a lapbook. We are also reading stories from Devotional Stories for Little Folks on forgiveness.
