Lots of excitement at our house on Mother's Day! Finally after many weeks, our hen, Smokey, became a mother. This hen has been sitting on eggs for 2 months. We didn't have the heart to watch her reaction every day as we took the eggs from under her. She was determined to be a mommy and nothing we tried would stop her! Just look at her sitting and waiting!!
Isn't this the sweetest thing??!! She is such a good mommy. We weren't too hopeful the eggs would hatch, so we didn't have any chick feed on hand. Smokey takes the food and crunches it up and feeds it to her chicks. I think we will name the chicks Grandma, Livvy, and Elizabeth. We still have one egg that hasn't hatched, but if we get another chick, it will be Erin or Mary Ellen. Does anyone know what show we have been watching lately? ; )
