Our school room

There has been a buzz on the homeschool message boards with school rooms/area. I thought I would share ours to give ideas to others. Our house is small and we use our dining room table for school work. Our currently being used material is located in this piece of furniture that I got from JCP (under bathroom cabinet in furniture section).

Each boy has a basket filled with their school books. A third basket is where I keep books that aren't used too often or used with both boys. Larger books, art books, and other books are on the shelf. The big basket on the bottom holds magazines and catalogs. The top shelf is like our home office. It is in need of a make over because it is a mess and I can't find things I need. Summer project! And yes, the top of the cabinet is used as a catch-all. I go through the stack about once a month. I call it our junk table, and I don't mind the build up because that is its purpose.

Our school table

We've been having trouble with distraction at times during school time. I am considering having one boy work at a different table for part of the time. It is another table that is behind where I am standing taking the above picture. Really no distance, but still separate. I am not sure how to set it up since it is in our entryway. We really need to hang our dry erase board and there is room above the table for that. Any ideas?

Books that are not currently being used and all reference books are kept on a bookshelf in a bedroom. They are two piece put on top of each other. I got it from Target, but they don't carry it anymore. They are nice and study and hold a lot of books and I can organize it with the sections. The only problem is that tall books don't fit. I do have another shelf in the room that holds those books or I lay them down to store on this shelf. I also keep books that my youngest will be using (after the oldest is done with it) in a plastic storage container under my bed. I keep a large plastic storage container with completed schoolwork in our basement storage area.

The other piece of furniture in the dining room holds the printer, paper, markers, ect.

Our craft supplies are stored in the hall closet (our house is small, but closet rich). You can see a picture of that on a post from February called "Craft Closet Clean Out".
