If you read some of my post from earlier this year you will know that some big plans for certain programs didn't make the cut. Thankfully things can be returned or sold if they don't work out.
In this post I will go over our game plan for History.
(Love that tongue sticking out! You know Tyler is working hard when that happens.)
The boys are doing US History together using From Sea to Shining Sea that I read to them. After we finish one chapter, the boys read living books on the subjects that interest them from the chapter we read. We are also doing a timeline across the living room wall. This is going well! Originally I had planned to use two different programs, but there just isn't enough time in the day. The Catholic text is for Caleb's age, but Tyler is having no problem keeping up with the readings. It also reads nice and isn't dry like most text books. Well worth the cost! I may be enjoying it more than them.
Timeline from link above-I cut them out and and stuck them on index cards. They can be used again or removed and relocated, if needed.
We will cut back on US history later in the year and add in World history where we left off at Ancient Rome last year. Actually, if was just Caleb who did Ancient history last year. I haven't given this much thought yet. All I do know is that Charlotte Mason taught Natural history and Ancient/World history at the same time. I seem to teach one or the other, but want to change that.
Our history text with some living books we have been reading.
Come back soon to check out my second post on our math for this year!
